Il pilota bolognese si rivela imbattibile nell’appuntamento andato in scena sul circuito ‘Marco Simoncelli’, conquistando un perentorio successo in entrambe le gare e chiudendo nel migliore dei modi la stagione 2023
Al termine di un’annata impegnativa e di grande crescita, mancava soltanto la ciliegina sulla torta a Giacomo Ghermandi per completare al meglio un 2023 ricco di soddisfazioni. L’occasione si è concretizzata al Misano World Circuit, in occasione dell’ultima tappa stagionale della Coppa Italia Turismo, dove il pilota bolognese ha colto una perentoria doppia affermazione assoluta a bordo della sua Audi RS3 LMS. Un successo ampiamente meritato e colto mettendosi alle spalle i contendenti nella lotta al titolo, in quello che per il pilota bolognese è stato un ritorno nella competizione organizzata da PNK Motorsport dopo il bel secondo posto ottenuto lo scorso anno sempre sul tracciato romagnolo.
Grazie a questo successo, Ghermandi può salutare con grande soddisfazione un’annata che lo ha visto protagonista nei principali campionati TCR, consentendogli di ritagliarsi un ruolo sempre più importante anche all’interno dello speciale World Ranking riservato ai piloti di questa disciplina. Dopo il sesto posto assoluto finale conquistato infatti nel TCR Eastern Europe (impreziosito dal podio conquistato a Most), il bolognese si è ben distinto anche nelle apparizioni effettuate a Monza nel TCR Europe e nelle due tappe disputate nel TCR Italy, dove soltanto una settimana fa aveva gareggiato sul circuito di casa a Imola.
Dopo aver fatto segnare il terzo tempo in qualifica, ‘Jack’ si è reso autore di una partenza da manuale al via di gara-1, sorprendendo i due rivali nella lotta al titolo e portandosi al comando con una bellissima manovra all’esterno di curva 1. Da quel momento, il bolognese si è difeso dagli attacchi di Giacon (poi costretto al ritiro per un guaio tecnico) ed è quindi riuscito anche a rimediare ad una penalità di 10” comminatagli per un’infrazione effettuata durante il regime di Safety Car, chiudendo al comando con un vantaggio di oltre 11 secondi nei confronti di Sandro Pelatti. Nella seconda manche, Ghermandi ha scavalcato nelle battute iniziali prima Konstantin Gutsul ed in seguito lo stesso Pelatti, chiudendo sotto la bandiera a scacchi con un ampio margine di vantaggio nei confronti degli inseguitori.
“Siamo riusciti a chiudere al meglio la nostra stagione con una fantastica doppietta – dichiara Ghermandi – centrando quindi l’obiettivo che ci eravamo posti prendendo parte a questa gara di fine stagione a Misano. Devo innanzitutto ringraziare lo staff della scuderia Lema Racing perché ha svolto anche questa volta un lavoro incredibile, visto che nella mattinata di Sabato ci siamo ritrovati con il differenziale fuori uso e sono riusciti a rimettere la macchina in sesto grazie anche al generoso aiuto del mio avversario Pelatti, che ci ha messo a disposizione il componente necessario. In qualifica abbiamo percorso solo un giro ma tanto ci è bastato per piazzarci in seconda fila, poi in gara il passo che avevamo era molto competitivo e ci ha permesso di vincere entrambe le gare con relativa tranquillità. Nella prima ho dovuto fare i conti inizialmente con gli attacchi di Giacon e poi con una penalità di 10” alla quale siamo comunque riusciti a rimediare, giungendo sul traguardo con un vantaggio sufficiente per garantirci la prima posizione. La seconda manche è stata un po’ più…tranquilla, visto che dopo essermi impadronito del comando della corsa ho imposto il mio ritmo fino alla bandiera a scacchi. Dopo un stagione lunga ed impegnativa, ci voleva un risultato del genere: merito del grande lavoro portato avanti dal team, del mio coach Pepe Oriola che mi ha permesso di crescere e migliorarmi e di tutti coloro che credono e condividono il nostro sogno. Appuntamento in pista al 2024!”
GIACOMO GHERMANDI RUINS MISANO AND ACHIEVES A DOUBLE IN THE ITALIA TOURISM CUP
The driver from Bologna proved to be unbeatable in the event held on the ‘Marco Simoncelli’ circuit, achieving a resounding success in both races and closing the 2023 season in the best possible way
At the end of a challenging year of great growth, all that was missing was the icing on the cake for Giacomo Ghermandi to best complete a 2023 full of satisfactions. The occasion materialized at the Misano World Circuit, on the occasion of the last seasonal round of the Italian Turismo Cup, where the driver from Bologna achieved a peremptory double overall victory aboard his Audi RS3 LMS. A largely deserved and achieved success, putting the contenders behind in the fight for the title, in what for the Bolognese driver was a return to the competition organized by PNK Motorsport after the good second place obtained last year also on the Romagna track.
Thanks to this success, Ghermandi can say goodbye with great satisfaction to a year that saw him as a protagonist in the main TCR championships, allowing him to carve out an increasingly important role also within the special World Ranking reserved for drivers of this discipline. After the final sixth place overall achieved in the TCR Eastern Europe (enhanced by the podium achieved in Most), the Bolognese also stood out well in the appearances made in Monza in the TCR Europe and in the two stages held in the TCR Italy, where only a week ago he had competed on his home circuit in Imola.
After setting the third fastest time in qualifying, ‘Jack’ made a perfect start at the start of race 1, surprising his two rivals in the fight for the title and taking the lead with a beautiful maneuver on the outside of the corner 1. From that moment, the Bolognese defended himself from Giacon’s attacks (then forced to retire due to a technical problem) and therefore also managed to make up for a 10″ penalty imposed on him for an infringement committed during the Safety Car regime , finishing in command with an advantage of over 11 seconds over Sandro Pelatti. In the second heat, Ghermandi overtook Konstantin Gutsul in the initial stages and then Pelatti himself, finishing under the checkered flag with a large margin of advantage over his pursuers.
“We managed to end our season in the best possible way with a fantastic double – declares Ghermandi – thus achieving the objective we had set ourselves by taking part in this end-of-season race in Misano. First of all I must thank the staff of the Lema Racing team because they did an incredible job this time too, given that on Saturday morning we found ourselves with the differential out of order and they managed to get the car back on track thanks also to the generous help of my opponent Pelatti, who made the necessary component available to us. In qualifying we only did one lap but that was enough for us to place ourselves on the second row, then in the race the pace we had was very competitive and allowed us to win both races with relative ease. In the first I initially had to deal with Giacon’s attacks and then with a 10″ penalty which we still managed to remedy, reaching the finish line with a sufficient advantage to guarantee us first position. The second heat was a little more…quiet, given that after taking the lead of the race I set my pace until the checkered flag. After a long and challenging season, a result like this was needed: thanks to the great work carried out by the team, to my coach Pepe Oriola who allowed me to grow and improve and to all those who believe in and share our dream.
